In this regard, Mother
Everest aims are to raise funds to rebuild the social and physical
infrastructure, as well as generate awareness about the environment,
local resources and make sustainable use of natural assets for the
benefit of the local people. The modus operandi of Mother Everest is
different from other NGO because it will address the present
situation in two prongs; it takes the role of advocacy as well as
mobilizes the different segments of society to achieve its goal. It
believes that-the rehabilitation of the displaced is important that
has to be taken up in tandem along with other development works. It
is impossible to imbibe the idea of responsible tourism and raise
environmental concerns without economic viability. So a confidence
building approach endorsing economic benefits and infrastructure
development will be adopted by us. People in rural areas are still
living under the shadow of terror that they have had to experience
for years. So Mother Everest will work towards confidence building
process by involving the locals, donor agencies and the government
to make sure that, the benefit of peace process is translated into
economic opportunity and the rewards reaches the myriad layers of
society. The ‘hands on’ approach strives to ensure that the local
people have necessary skills to adjust themselves to the changes
taking place everyday in the social, political and economical
spectrum. It is about giving them the right tools and support,
opportunities, jobs and responsibility so that they are self
reliant, independent and devoid of dependence.
The need for training is of utmost importance in any field to
achieve success and reach out to the targeted audience. Mother
Everest strives to provide vocational training to the local people
on various fields related to the projects to ensure their
sustainability. Assisted by the government, international donor
agencies, local support, international volunteers and students,
local association and bodies, Mother Everest strives to provide
vocational training to the local people to improve their
communication skills by imparting language programs, vocational
training on basic health and hygiene, environment conservation,
management of local projects etc. Along with the development of
infrastructure it looks at creating a strong workforce using local
resources to support the tourism industry in the concerned area.

benefits of tourism is not concentrated to a small segment of the
society but reaches to the various strata of people who depend on
this industry for their livelihood. Though many areas of Nepal have
a lot to offer in terms of culture, landscape and people but the
lack of resources and knowledge of western needs has made setting up
tourism ventures often difficult for the local people. So Mother
Everest looks at providing the necessary assistance and sharing the
technical know how to the local people to help them set up viable
businesses, To ensure a sound distribution of the rewards of this
trade Mother Everest looks at identifying new products in different
areas of Nepal and working together with the local people to develop
the product, human resource and infrastructure which will give them
the opportunity to interact with outsiders and also generate more

the country. Local infrastructure is in shambles and there the whole

education is one of the most important tools that that ensures sound
development. So it looks at developing infrastructure and bringing a
sense of normalcy to the lives of the students affected by this
change that has been brought about by the political system that
existed in Nepal for the past decade. Sustainable development is
just a utopian dream without proper education and awareness.
Literacy is imperative to help bring bout changes and improve the
income generating skills of the rural people. Moreover educating the
local people broadens their horizons and gives them a better chance
of survival. It teaches the skills needed to the new generation to
confront today's world and enables them to 'meet' the daily
challenge posed by life. It will open up understanding of their
environment better, make better use of available resources and helps
them understand the changes affecting their lives and their
collective future. Mother Everest looks at developing infrastructure
and educational programs that are managed and run by local
villagers. Initially it looks at providing the necessary assistance
to build necessary infrastructure, help the local develop skills to
help sustain these community assets so that eventually with project
experience and skills the locals can sustain the projects on their
own. The system is about skills building that provide village

3. Health and Sanitation
Proper nutrition, sanitation and hygiene, clean water and basic
health that are taken for granted by most people in the west are
concepts that are a luxury to some people in country. The lack of
education, skilled people and resources has adversely affected
health in the rural areas of Nepal. This is further aggravated by
the lack of motivated and trained staff, drugs, equipment,
supervision and even basic health facilities are scattered and hence
are limited to a very few and far off communities. Mother Everest
looks at tackling these issues head on and looks at looks at
generating awareness among the local people through education,
training and employment. Periodic workshops, awareness programs,
health camps and development of infrastructure like health clinics,
sanitation and waterworks are some of the works that Mother Everest
plans to undertake. This gives encouragement to the locals and apart
from improved conditions will also make them efficient, confident
and aware. More awareness, improved literacy means healthier bodies
and better opportunities to the people to escape their difficult
existence. This issue is a priority and Mother Everest looks to
combat it from the grass root level and plans to impart education on
nutrition, sanitation, hygiene and health through village committees
and schools. Mother Everest looks at international volunteers and
